Mentorship-Driven Investment
In the past decade, seed-stage funding firms have risen to help startup tech companies succeed. Whether they be called a seed-stage funding firm, a mentorship-driven investment program, or even the antiquated names of incubator or accelerator, we think they are a good idea.
Key ingredients to success
Before founding BoomStartup, we did significant research on existing similar programs. After this research, we concluded that these programs need, in order to succeed, the following: (1) sufficient investment and operating capital; (2) massive doses of mentoring from top mentors in the local area; (3) free services such as rent, legal, bookkeeping, accounting, Internet access, etc.; and (4) ample peer interaction with other participating companies. If any of these are missing, the program will ultimately not deliver.
